More Wisdom for 2025: Habakkuk – “Joy in the Middle of Frustration”
The Word of the Lord: Habakkuk 1:1-1:10
The prophet opens with frustration: When God is Silent
“How long God must I call for help and you will not listen or respond.”
When we have questions, we think or assume that God must or should answer us immediately.
So why is God silent at times?
In times of Frustration: Find Joy
Habakkuk says chapter 2:1- “I will stand at my watch and station myself on the rampart, I will look to see what he will say to me.”
Habakkuk has learned the lesson of faith. To trust God’s providence regardless of circumstances.
God is always at work- our task is to get on board of whatever God is doing!

So why is God silent at times?
- Prayer must be God centered and not us centered.
- We have known sin in our lives.
- What he is saying that people who truly trust and follow God must trust Him enough when they do not have all the answers and when life doesn’t make sense.
In times of Frustration: Find Joy
- There are times God is silent because we have put up barriers to keep us from hearing the answers.
- There are times God is silent because you are in the waiting room.
- Believe that God is always at work!
Habakkuk says chapter 2:1- “I will stand at my watch and station myself on the rampart, I will look to see what he will say to me.”
Habakkuk has learned the lesson of faith. To trust God’s providence regardless of circumstances.
- The issue is not God; the issue is us!
God is always at work- our task is to get on board of whatever God is doing!
