My Cup Runneth Over: “The Seven Last Words”

Jesus was both fully God and fully human, and his words from the cross give us a close-up look at both his divinity and his humanity.

• “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

• “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

 
 

• “Woman, here is your son” and “Here is your mother.”

 
 

• “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” or “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”

• “I am thirsty.”

• “It is finished.”

 
 

• “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”

Take the high road, even if it takes you to a low place.
Follow Jesus and pick up your cross.
