Discipleship as a Journey of Grace: “Making Jesus Lord” John 5:19-23
The benefits that come from Making Jesus Lord. We have…
A New hope.
Ephesians 2:4-5, “But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),”

A New standing before God.

Romans 5:1, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,”

A New identity: We have been united forever with Christ.
Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

New desires.
Ezekiel 36:26-27 “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.”

New power.
2 Peter 1:3 "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness".

When we make Jesus Lord, He is looking for those of us who will…
  • Set our will to radically obey Jesus - John 5:19

  • Set our will to humbly listen to Jesus – John 5:20

So, in wilderness times and times like these,
everything rises and falls on disciples who humbly listen and radically obey!
