Breadcrumbs: Tough Times – Job 29-42

  • Job has 3 friends who come. The Bible says, why they came.

Job 2:11, “Sympathize with him and comfort him.”

Job 2:12-13, “When they saw him from a distance, they could hardly recognize him; they began to weep aloud, and they tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads.  Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, because they saw how great his suffering was.”

  • Job asks all these questions of God and then God turns the page and asks these questions of Job.

This is My Bible:
The Word of the Lord: Job 38:1-7, 16-18

God says, who do you think you are asking all these questions:

Job 40:1-2, “The Lord said to Job: “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!”
Look at Jobs response:

Job 40:3-4, “Then Job answered the Lord: “I am unworthy-how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. I spoke once, but I have no answer-twice, I will say no more.”

Job 42:1-3, Then Job replied to the Lord: “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of your can be thwarted. You asked, “Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge? Surely, I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.”

Job 42:12, “the Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first.”

  • Relationship and trust with God are more important than the answers to our why questions!

  • When we think about trials and challenges in life: They are difficult, but what all people who suffer need most, is a visit from God.

Job is the book of a seemingly endless struggle:
to an unbreakable follower!
