“Changed in the Waiting” - Love
The Word of the Lord: Luke 1:68–79
Who Was Zechariah?
Zechariah’s Promise from God
Gabriel also told him that John would “be great in the sight of the Lord” and “filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born” and that he would “bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God” (vv. 15, 16).
Zechariah, much like the people of God, was forced to endure a period of silent waiting. Zechariah’s Song.
God’s continued covenant with us is one that God has been working and continues to work to fulfill until the very end of the age.
We as the promise people of God are invited to join in and experience this faithful covenant and steadfast love.
“Changed in the Waiting” - Love
The Word of the Lord: Luke 1:68–79
Who Was Zechariah?
- Zechariah, who became the father of John the Baptist, was a priest. He was old, and he and his wife had never had any children.
- So, Elizabeth’s inability to get pregnant has nothing to do with anything she or Zechariah have done wrong in their lives.
- The promise that was fulfilled in the birth of John to Zechariah and Elizabeth is a reminder of the larger promise that God has fulfilled, is fulfilling, and will continue to fulfill for God’s people.
God’s continued covenant with us is one that God has been working and continues to work to fulfill until the very end of the age.
We as the promise people of God are invited to join in and experience this faithful covenant and steadfast love.
